Nothing like that (opt out) will happen as corporate's main goal is to capture the lead & put it through the relo group for a referral fee. It's not up to Trulia or technology.

Pat -

Technically what they are doing is proper, as all of the listings are owned by the broker/brokerage.

I believe that the sellers may be harmed a bit because buyers will be less inclined to email for more information as C21's site is somewhat difficult to navigate, the number of photos is limited, and the leads themselves may or may not be responded to in a rapid fashion (less than 5 minutes is ideal).

Doing a brokerage-by-brokerage "opt-in/out" would be nice, but may prove impossible due to the number of brokerages out there.

Or, Trulia will develop a solution that works just fine. Perhaps an "even more information" button that sends buyers to the agents' sites - sites that have more photos, floorplans, "what's nearby" features, pod/vid-casts, etc.

As a non-realtor who is intrigued by new business models, this is interesting. Shouldn't Trulia provide an "opt-out" service that allows Realtors like you to continue to maintain a direct link to your site? Would you use it?
