Morning growth reading (and listening)

CvilleTomorrow continues to provide sunshine on Albemarle County’s processes. The two most recent buzzwords, “phasing” and “clustering” are on their way to prominence. My first question is – why has it taken the BoS this long to question the pace of the County’s growth?

Orange, Louisa and Fluvanna are in the Nation’s Top 100.

    From the Cville Tommorrow article:

Supervisors expressed interest in receiving more information on the potential of phasing developments in the designated growth areas such that new housing and commercial developments would be built on a time release schedule. One way this might work would be to have a developer with a large rezoning request to proffer a time-release of the residential units. Another approach discussed is to deny rezoning requests.

I’d like to point out the obvious. That solution does nothing but guarantee that home prices in the area stay high. Should this method be adopted it would prove that the concern local politicians express about “affordable housing” is just “lip service.”

The right move in my opinion would be to take the 2nd of the two options and just “deny rezoning requests.”
