Water supply and drought in Central Virginia

With the news that the drought warning will continueUpdate 2023: dead link the HooK)

As of last month, my family has cut our water usage by 28% below our average usage.

For the first time, buyer clients of mine have specifically chosen to not look in the Charlottesville area and instead are redirecting their search to Waynesboro, just west of Charlottesville.

(name withheld) became increasingly concerned about the water situation, so we have changed our focus to Augusta County.  We believe (and hope) that you work in that area also.  On the other side of the Blue Ridge the rock is sedimentary.  It has much more possibility for good aquifers than does the metamorphic rock on the East side.

For Charlottesville & Albemarle, the primary reservoir has 80% of its usable volume. The candidates for the BoS speak about the 50 year water plan. Update 2023: both bad links.

Luckily, I work in Waynesboro and Augusta, too. Of greater concern is the long-term viability of continued growth, and perhaps the perception of that viability buy buyers and sellers in the region

Folks, we’re suffering through quite a drought. My rain barrel has been empty for quite some time now.

It’s time for the motto from the last drought to make a resurgence: If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down.
