Putting statistics into context that matters

C-Ville has a brief update on the Virginia real estate market today:

Still, that doesn’t mean those $1 million homes are being snapped up hours after listing. There are currently 576 homes on the market priced at $1 million or more.

“And we only sell about 100 of those a year,” Phillips says with a wry laugh.

– For the Charlottesville area* there are 178 residential properties on the market, with asking prices of at least $1,000,000.

– For Charlottesville/Albemarle, there are 145 residential properties on the market with asking prices of at least one million dollars.

– Including Waynesboro and Augusta, there are 197 million-dollar-plus properties on the market.

Why bother clarifying this story and data? Because accurate, relevant data – and the appropriate context – matters.
