Two Years in Belvedere in Charlottesville

Friends/clients note two years in the Belvedere neighborhood; they provide a candid look at the good and the not-so-good of living in a green neighborhood in Charlottesville that was hit hard by the recession.

For me, Belvedere remains an exceptionally-well-located neighborhood with a vision that will hopefully one day come to fruition. It’s more populated and vibrant now and the neighborhood’s development should be more organic itself as it grows with less input from the developers, who are, in a word, “slippery.”

A smattering of homes for sale in Belvedere:

Jim, slippery is too nice a description for that developer. The number of people that were used and abused by that guy is huge. Big talk, big dreams and no follow through. Thats the way of that developer. I understand that trying to build a green-energy star home was so out of the prior (Ryan)managements league that it was a real chore to get the project (architecturally) to fruition.
