Trulia ups the ante

As promised, Trulia has released more comprehensive display of real estate data.

The data’s not perfect (Crozet lists only 13 properties for sale, the MLS has 104 in the 22932 Zip Code. Using my educated guess-timation, there are probably at least 119 actively on the market) - but it’s much better than it was a few days ago. Nimble and creative private enterprise will out-innovate and out-deliver slower, large corporations (most MLS’) every time.

It’s surprisingly difficult to find good, accurate and timely data anymore without digging more than time allows … personally I like the “travel time to work” tab.

Trulia even has taken the lead in predicting the market’s direction by putting together a crack team of real estate and market pros.

She’s certainly been all over the story, though, along with Trulia’s own weblog, Ubertor, The Real Estate Marketing Blog, Real Central VA and Marlow herself again. Two days later, she followed up with news that Windermere has gone Google. More from Joel on this move. My take: Okay, but an MLS is a tool wherein I can distinguish a slate roof from a tile roof and a true swimming pool from an above-ground pool. By that standard, we do not have and may never have a national MLS. [...]
