Late Night Negotiations – It’s a Team (real estate) Sport

“Realtors Work”

Years ago, there was an ad campaign titled, “Realtors Work;” because people needed to be reminded that … Realtors … Work? I thought it stupid then, and still do. Of course productive  Realtors work.

Twice in the past few weeks, I’ve been talking to clients after 8 or 9 o’clock on a Friday night.

While I say in my client code of conduct that I have that I have and set time lime limits, I also carve out a caveat for active negotiations. These things are not just time-sensitive; I also want to not have my clients trying to sleep when they really want to make an offer, or counter, and I know this – if it’s a property with potential multiple offers, time matters, even in a pandemic.

The Surprising Part?

The surprising part to each client was that not only was I up for talking/negotiating/drafting offers at that time, but I was also texting with their lender and the other agent in one case, and just their lender (a different great local lender) at that time.

For me, and the lenders, it was business as normal. Given the opportunity to work, and represent a client: I’ll take it most of the time.*
