Bah.

A therapeutic post …

This weekend I showed a call-in couple some townhomes in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area. I thought things went well, Followed up with an email and a voice mail. No response. This afternoon I received a call from another agent saying that she had a “client” that wanted to make an offer on a property I had shown to them.

There is a distinct and important difference between a customer and a client. Currently, there is a bill in the Legislature that deals with this.

I wrote about loyalty last year. This example is more about common courtesy.

Did I expect to earn their business in such a short period of time? It would have been nice. Did I earn a phone call explaining that they were already working with a Realtor and that they had not been honest when I had asked whether they were working with anybody else? I think so, too.

I try to work by the Golden Rule; a reminder that others do not is necessary – keeps me on my toes!
