But most Ford, Dodge or Chevy pickups are restricted.

That HOA seems like they’re all about appearances. Some of those vehicles are big luxury cars, and the pick-ups are either for ‘working’ or for someone into certain kinds of outdoor activities. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere that has a HOA for exactly this kind of restriction.
