Albemarle County BoS Candidate interviews

Charlottesville Tomorrow continues its extraordinary public service with interviews with the candidates for Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. If you’re planning to vote (and you should be, if you live in one of their districts) you would be well advised to listen to these.

In the Scottsville District – Lindsay Dorrier, Kevin Fletcher and Denny King
In the Rivanna District – Ken Boyd and Marcia Joseph
In the White Hall District – Ann Mallek and David Wyant

You just won’t find this kind of comprehensive coverage of local politics anywhere else. More than anywhere else, local politics are where your vote can make a difference. Growth, land use, transportation, infrastructure, property taxes, property rights – they’re all here.

Likely, Cvillenews will have lively discussion.

It would appear as though tonight will be a defining moment for the incumbents. According to the Progress three major developments are up for consideration tonight: Avon Center, Hollymead Town Center’s residential portion (1200 homes), and the infamous Biscuit Run. It amazes me that after tonight it is possible that around 5,000 more homes will be in the pipeline for the area. I am not sure how I feel about it. On one hand it may add some much needed competition on the other hand if these homes average 3 people a piece it’s possibly 15,000 new residents in addition to everything else going up.
